Eighteen years after he was shoot dead in the night of September 13, tupac has
remain in the minds of rap followers who worship the rap imp in
culture. Tupac was well known for his rap talent, drugs and gun running
which he at some point called his girlfriend.
And now, a musical inspired by the songs of the late rapper is
scheduled to open on Broadway on 19 of June. Born Tupac Shakur, the
musical titled “Holler If Ya Hear Me” is an original, non–biographical
story about two friends in the inner–city in the Midwest. The musical is
said to have taken its title from an autobiographical song by the
Shakur off his second solo album that was released in 1993. The show is
not completely telling the story of Shakur, but will use his poetic
music and lyrics to offer “a window into the realities of the streets
still relevant today.” Shakur’s mother, Afeni, is also one of the show’s
producer show’s producers.
We heard casting for roles has not yet been announced but it will be in due time. Born in New York City, Tupac grew up primarily in Harlem. In 1984, his family moved to Baltimore, Maryland where he became good friends with Jada Pinkett Smith. His family moved again in 1988 to Oakland, California. His first breakthrough in music came in 1991 as a member of the group Digital Underground. In the same year he received individual recognition for his album “2Pacalypse Now,” but this album was also the beginning of his notoriety as a leading figure of the gangster permutation of hip-hop, with references to cop killing and sexual violence. His solo movie career also began in this year with Juice and the following year, he co-starred with Janet Jackson in Poetic Justice.
The rap star was shot several times in Los Vagas in September 1996. He passed on six days later.
