Femi Kuti Admits He Lost At The Grammy Because Of Poor Publicity In The States


For the first time since he lost out at the Grammy Awards last month, Femi Kuti have explain the reasons why he was unable to win the World Best Music Category after four nominations. Femi Kuti says his last album “No place for my Dream” is worth winning the most coveted price but because of the high level of politics that was involved and the financial implications attached, the album could not win.

He says even though he have no intention of playing along with the politics, but if the politics was well played the album could have won. Femi lamented that pushing the album in the United States is also one of the major problem. He says aggressive publicity for the album on all radio stations for the voting audience to listen is very expensive for his management and music company.

Femi claims he is not broken about his loss like when his wife left him and moving on… Femi explained that most winners of the category have been nominated more than five times and he is optimistic that he will win the award someday. At the moment, Femi says the major problem is how to make another album that will be better than his last album.
