Super
Eagles striker Emmanuel Emenike continued his impressive goal scoring
form on Saturday as he scored in Fenerbache’s 3-2 away win over Taye
Taiwo’s club Bursaspor in a Turkish Super Lig game at the Bursa
Atatürk Stadium on Saturday night.
Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi on Sunday
named Emenike in his 25-man squad to face Ethiopia in the return leg
World Cup playoff in Calabar on November 16.
The South Africa 2013 Africa Cup of
Nations winner, who scored a brace for the Eagles against Ethiopia in
the first leg in Addis Ababa on October 13, has netted 10 times in 18
international appearances for Nigeria.
Emenike scored in 83rd minute to put
Fenerbache in the lead for the first time in the game after Pierre Webo
had earlier equalised Kerhat Firaz’s first half opener.
Egemen Korkmaz scored on the 90th minute
to extend the visitors lead, however Pablo Batalla pulled a goal back
for Bursaspor a minute later, but the hosts were unable to force an
equalizer.
Emenike has successively found the back
of the net in his last three games to help Fenerbahce to the top of the
Super Lig table on 25 points from 10 matchess.
Out-of-favour Eagles defender Taiwo played the entire duration of the game for Bursaspor.
Twenty-six-year-old Emenike, who joined
Fenerbahce from Spartak Moscow in a €15m deal in the summer, has
scored four goals so far for the The Yellow Cannaries.
