Akpoborie hails Pillars

Former Super Eagles striker, Jonathan Akpoborie has congratulated Kano Pillars for their dramatic win over six-time Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions, Enyimba on Tuesday.
Manir Ubale struck with a header at the death for Sai Masugida to condemn the Peoples’ Elephant to a potentially fatal defeat in their re-arranged match day 31 clash decided at the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja.
Akpoborie reckons Pillars deserved the win but blamed Enyimba’s defenders for losing concentration at the “crucial moment of the game.”
“I want to congratulate Pillars for this victory because it was well deserved in the end but for Enyimba, they have themselves to blame for conceding at the crucial moment of the game,” Akpoborie, a pundit for supersport declared at the end of the game.

Enyimba coach, Imama Amapakabo rued his side’s missed chances earlier in the game and identified the failure of his forwards to capitalise on their many chances for the loss to the NPFL champions.
“We had chances and we failed to take them. That’s football. We must now go back and strategise for our remaining three matches of the season,” he told supersport.com.
Kano Pillars head coach, Baba Ganaru was ecstatic with the win and praised his player’s “resilience and doggedness.”
“We displayed resilience and doggedness in this tension-soaked match. We deserved this three points and I congratulate all my players for giving a good account of themselves.
“But we cannot afford to lose concentration because there is still more work to be done,” he said.
The win takes Pillars up to the top of the NPFL log with 60 points from 35 matches.
