Akwa United coach, Justin Tenger will be conspicuously missing when his side take on newcomers, Nembe City in the Glo Premier League Matchday 35 tie at the Uyo Township Stadium on Wednesday.
The Uyo-based side gaffer left the side on Tuesday for home state, Benue to partake in his local government pension scheme screening exercise due on Wednesday, October 02.
Tenger said he has put adequate measure in place to ensure the side grab the three points against Nembe City.
“I won’t be on the bench in Wednesday’s home game against Nembe City, I’ve a date with my local government pension screening exercise on Wednesday same date as the game against Nembe. Pension is a life thing, I’ve been graciously permitted by the management to attend the pension screening exercise.
“Of course, I know my absence won’t cheat the side of the much needed victory on Wednesday against Nembe City.
“I trained with the side on Tuesday morning before traveling out, I’ve drawn out plan as well as the players who’ll feature in the encounter, it’s almost the same squad that faced Enyimba in Aba.
“I’ve absolute confidence in the management and coaches to go all out to grab the three points.
“We’ve been without a win in the last five matches which is not a good score card, that’s why we’ve to do everything in our capacity to win and chance climbing out from the drop zone.
“The points we dropped in the said five matches are hurting us as our position on the log is quite discomforting, so we need a win to brighten our chance to keep our status in the topflight league,” said the former Niger Tornadoes coach to supersport.com.
Akwa United are 18th on the Glo Premier League log on 43 points with four matches to end the ongoing season.
