NSC to Eagles

THE National Sports Commission (NSC) has promised a special package to reward the Super Eagles, if they eventually book a ticket to the 2014 World Cup slated for Brazil.
The Director-General of the NSC, Gbenga Elegbeleye told SportingLife in Abuja yesterday that the Eagles need all encouragement from all and sundry to win the remaining two play-off matches and pick the World Cup ticket. he said that is why the NSC has also prepared a special package for the team that would be revealed when they eventually win the ticket for the Brazil 2014 World Cup.
“Mind you if the Super Eagles qualify for the World Cup, we have a special package for them. We will surely do something special for them. We are already preparing the special package for them because we are sure that the team will qualify for the Brazil 2014 World Cup. We are ready for the team in terms of compensation and encouragement.

“I know that Eagles Chief Coach Stephen Keshi knows his onions and is capable of leading this team to another success by booking the World Cup ticket like he led the team to win the AFCON 2013 in South Africa. My advice to him is to be focused and he should not give in to sentiments. He has to be more alive to his job than ever before because this is a very crucial stage of the qualification series.
“If Nigeria are African Champions, then Nigeria must be among the five qualifying teams for next year’s World Cup. I believe we have a strong and quality team to beat Ethiopia home and away so all we have to do is to support this team. So there can’t be any better support than what Mr President (Goodluck Jonathan) is offering the Super Eagles now.
Elegbeleye also thanked President Jonathan for his unflinching support to the Super Eagles since the qualification series started and for also approving funds to charter aircraft to airlift 200 supporters to Addis Ababa, the venue of the first leg play-off between the host team and the Super Eagles.
“Mr President (Jonathan) has graciously approved money for the airlifting of 200 members of the supporters club, logistics and other things that has to do with the match. That shows Mr President is taking this match seriously. That shows that with his kind gestures it means we have no reason not to go there and do well.
“It is a must do well match and we must qualify for the World Cup. We cannot afford to fail Nigerians. We won the last Africa Cup on Nations in South Africa and as African Champions, we have to prove that we worth the victory by picking the 2014 World Cup ticket. Nigeria should rank among the best in the world by booking the World Cup ticket. By the grace of God we will do well in Ethiopia and then we will come back to Nigeria and qualify for the World Cup”, he assured.
