Lobi Stars central defender, Anthony Agbaji has said his side’s five-match unbeaten record will continue at Dolphins.
The Makurdi-based side have amassed 11 points from a possible 15 in their last five matches and will be the guests of Dolphins in Saturday’s Glo Premier League Matchday 36 encounter at the Liberation Stadium, Port Harcourt.
Agbaji, who admitted that the former Nigerian champions will be out for them to forestall a repeat of last season’s defeat, said a point in the game will be satisfactory to his side.
“We’ve played five successive matches without defeat, we want to continue the unbeaten record at Dolphins.
“Last season we pulled a shock 2-0 win against Dolphins in Port Harcourt. I’m sure that incident is still fresh in their memories.
“I know they’ll give us a good fight, at least, to avoid a repeat of last season’s result but our position on the log which is not comfortable condemns us to fight hard for the points.
“A point in the encounter won’t be considered a bad result and that task may not be tough as my teammates are in perfect shape right now.
“We won the first fixture in Katsina-Ala. A double is not on our minds but if the opportunity comes knocking on our door we’ll grab it with both hands.
“We’ll be comfortable with a draw as that will improve our rating on the log while we come back home to continue the unbeaten run in the remaining two matches,” said the Lobi Stars strongman to supersport.com.
Lobi Stars are ninth on the 20-team elite league log on 49 points. Lobi Stars’ remaining matches are a road trip game at ambitious side, El-Kanemi Warriors in Maiduguri and home game to title-chasing side, Kano Pillars in Katsina-Ala.
