An all clear for nuggety midfielder Thandani Ntshumayelo has handed Orlando Pirates a further boost after news on Friday that key defender Siyabonga Sangweni will be out of the game for a much shorter time than initially anticipated.
Pirates said on Saturday Ntshumayelo had been passed fit as Pirates prepare for their trip to Tunisia to meet Esperance in the CAF Champions League semifinal.
“(Ntshumayelo) underwent a series of scans and medical observations yesterday (Friday), this after complaining (of) a severe pain on his foot.

“The latest scan results which the club received from a specialist in Johannesburg, revealed that the Free State-born midfielder did not sustain any structural damage to his foot, and is therefore fit to train with the rest of the squad from Monday,” said a club statement.
“No damage or reoccurrence of his previous injury was picked up during the scan. The pain he felt was due to a knock he sustained which is nothing serious.”
Ntshumayelo had gone off during the Telkom Knockout win over Mpumalanga Black Aces in Nelspruit on Tuesday.
It is a second bit of good news after Sangweni underwent successful surgery on Thursday on an Achilles tendon tear that offivilaas feared might end his career. Instead he will only be out for three months.
Pirates also have Patrick Phungwayo sidelined as he recovers from Achilles tendon operation?and Sifiso Myeni is working on his fitness having started a light training program following his groin strain.??
