Bloemfonein Celtic captain and Bafana Bafana regular Thabo Nthethe has renewed his contract with the club for a further three years.
This is fantastic news for Celtic as Nthethe is one of the most experienced and naturally talented defenders currently plying their trade in the Premier Soccer League.
Nthethe has been a Celtic stalwart for nine years and with his three year renewal he will be eligible for a testimonial next year.
Celtic fended off a strong bid from Mamelodi Sundowns who were interested in Nthethe. The renewal proves the club is serious about keeping their top players, despite the best efforts of the so-called bigger clubs in Gauteng.
“Nthethe has been one of our most loyal players for nine years now and we are delighted that he has signed a further three year deal,” said Celtic CEO Khumbulani Konco.
“The club’s stance is to hold on to our best players and this shows that despite offers from other teams we managed to hold on to our captain,” he added.
“I am very happy to renew my contract with Bloemfontein Celtic. The club is like family to me and I am personally delighted to extend my term by a further three years,” said Nthethe.
