Middendorp signs for Celtic

Football | Absa Premiership

Ernst Middendorp has signed a three year contract to take over the new coach of Bloemfontein Celtic, it was announced on Friday afternoon.
“I am excited to take on this challenge knowing the huge support that this club has and the existing resources that they have invested (in),” a stement from the coach said.
“I’m looking forward to coaching the players and I am passionate about helping the club fulfil its potential”.
His agent Steve Kapeluschnik said “once we had finalised all the paperwork with Maritzburg, the negotiations between Celtic and the coach were concluded quickly”. But he did not detail what the paperwork was, although likely a settlement of his existing contract.
Middendorp will be in Bloemfontein on Sunday to watch the team play against Kaizer Chiefs in the Macufe Cup.

He made a surprise exit from Maritzburg on Thursday and replaces Clinton Larsen in charge of Celtic.
He is now the fourth change of the new Absa Premiership season and the third inside a week after Manqoba Mngqithi quit Lamontville Golden Arrows on Saturday and Larsen resigned 48 hours later. The first to go this season was Polokwane City’s Duncan Lechesa.
German-born Middendorp, who turns 55 later this month, has had two separate spells at Maritzburg.
A former Bundesliga coach, has also worked in China, Cyprus and Ghana and came to South Africa in 2005 first at the helm of Kaizer Chiefs. He also worked at Arrows.
Middendorp will not have to wait long before he meets up with his old charges. Celtic host Maritzburg in a league match on Tuesday, November 5 at the Free State Stadium.
