Ghana youngster back at Maritzburg

Football | Absa Premiership

Ghana youth international Frank Sarfo Gyamfi is back at Maritzburg United but in limbo as the club still ponder what to do with him, officials confirmed on Wednesday.
They had planned to loan him back the Ghana Premier League after he failed to make an impression in his first Absa Premiership campaign with the club last season but did not make the transfer registration deadline in time.
Sarfo Gyamfi, who disappointingly missed out on a place with Ghana’s under-20 team at the recent World Youth Championships in Turkey, was to go to Asante Kotoko in Kumasi.
But registration in Ghana closed earlier than expected at the close of the mid-year transfer window, catching the player and Maritzburg off guard.

He has had to return to the KwaZulu-Natal based club, where he is under contract, but Maritzburg have not registered him for the season.
To do so, would be to take up the remaining slot they have available for a foreign player this season and which they are saving in case they want to bring in a new signing when the transfer window re opens in January.
Instead they are weighing up their options and awaiting some input from new coach Clinton Larsen.
Last season, Sarfo Gyamfi started just three games for Maritzburg plus had eight more appearances as a substitute in an injury-plagued campaign. His lone goal came in league match against Moroka Swallows.
