Walia Ibex skipper Degu Debebe is a man of few words but when
it comes to issues on Ethiopian football he is ready to open up his
heart considering they are a heartbeat away from the most prestigious
football show piece which is the World Cup.
Degu wants to be part of of the great history in his tenure as Walia
skipper but he thinks it will take a collective effort from all the
players to bring down Nigeria who have been favoured by many pundits.
As a matter of fact Degu has called on his comrades to treat the game against Nigeria in Addis Ababa as a final as he reiterates that it will not be an easy road game back in Calabar.
Ethiopian fans cheer the team bus - Okinyo
"My thoughts are on our Sunday game which is very crucial.Sometimes I reflect back and I can imagine how far we have come as a team but the d-day is fast approaching and this is a moment every player has been waiting for not forgetting the anxious fans.
The mood in camp has been that of camaraderie as everyone hopes for a positive result against the African champions. We clearly know it will be tough but we are equally up to the task in the do or die affair"
"Football has no owners and therefore I don't see why we should be afraid of Nigeria because of the tag of being African champions. We are enjoying the training and we believe the tactical and technical ability passed on to the team by coach Sewnet will come in handy on Sunday at the National Stadium"Degu told supersport.com in Addis Ababa.
