Super Eagles forward, Joseph Osadiaye has said he will prefer the side to avoid hosts, Brazil and Italy in the group stage of the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil.
The draw for the quadrennial global football fiesta will hold on Friday, December 6 in the Brazilian city of Bahia.
Osadiaye said though the Eagles have demonstrated the capacity in past challenges to face any side but avoiding mostly the former World Cup champions will brighten their chances of progressing further in the competition.
“I won’t want the Eagles to be grouped together with Brazil and Italy, I’ll rather prefer we avoid them at the preliminary stage perhaps meet them later in the competition. I strongly think avoiding the two at the early stage of the competition will brighten our chances to progress further in the competition.
“Aside the twosome I don’t see any other side that will pose hard nut for us to crack. The Eagles under the present manager, Stephen Keshi have matured and have shown their capacity to stand on their own against any side in any competition.

“I watched the Eagles against Italy in the friendly in London I was satisfied with the no nonsense approach the Nigerians brought into the game and were almost running away with victory before the Europeans levelled score at 2-2,” said the Warri Wolves goal poacher to supersport.com.
Osadiaye is confident the Eagles will play in the semifinals at the Brazil 2014 World Cup.
“I know our best record at the World Cup has been the round of 16 berth at the USA ’94 World Cup but I can say confidently that this present crop of Eagles will play in the semifinals in Brazil.
“The tide is in favour of the Eagles excelling in Brazil as shown in their victory at the African Cup of Nations in the year of the World Cup as well as qualifying for the Chan competition for the first time.
“I think everything is working very well under coach Keshi's tenure and something tells me the Eagles will pull surprises at the World Cup,” Osadiaye said.
