Some
banks in the Federal Capital Territory have assured customers of
effective Automative Teller Machine services during the Christmas
holidays.
The banks visited by the News Agency of
Nigeria , on Tuesday in Abuja include Zenith, First, Guarantee Trust and
Access Bank PLC.
Some of the branch managers who spoke on
condition of anonymity said that adequate arrangements were in place to
ensure money was always in the machines.
At Zenith bank at the Central Business
District, NAN observed that efforts were made to deliver prompt services
to numerous customers in the banking hall.
At the ATM boots in the premises, it was observed that though there were queues, the machines were dispensing cash to customers.
An official of the bank who requested
anonymity said: “For our ATM during the season, all our branches are
told to ensure that the boots are loaded with money every time.’’
“I have instructed that one of the counters sort new money for the machines.
“All these are to make sure that we deliver service during the break,’’ he said.
Another official at First bank in Garki,
who did not want to be mentioned, said that all head of operations would
be in regular contacts with the security agents manning the boots for
reloading when necessary.
“Our major concern is those highly
populated areas and I know that with the plans on ground cash will be
available for our customers.”
Also, at Guarantee Trust bank, the bank official told, NAN that the major challenge was availability of cash.
“As you know, CBN is not producing cash,
so, sorting money for the ATM machines sometimes is a big problem
because the machine takes reasonable clean money.
“We really have no staff designated to be doing that but we will do our best.
“We have been instructed by the head
office to ensure that our ATM works during the break; that is exactly
what we are going to do.
“We will not disappoint our customers,” he said.
